Climbed Amadeus above Barrier Lake in Kananaskis yesterday. The mixed climbing is fairly challenging but the crux was getting onto a slabby ramp where you traverse left to the ice. I am assuming that this ramp usually has ice on it when people climb this route. It was very exciting without any ice! The upper pitch was pumpy grade 4+ ice and was solid but very wet. Overall it was a nice day out with my friends Todd & Andy but it's certainly not the most fun mixed climb I've ever done. If the direct start had a bit more ice it would likely offer much better climbing.
