Mt. Louis - The Gmoser route climbs the center of the face while the Kain route climbs near the right hand side.
Climbing the crux 5.8 pitch of the Gmoser route.
On June 29th I headed into Mt. Louis with Jody & Monique to climb the Gmoser route which has a reputation for being one of the best of the classic rock routes on the peak. None of us had climbed the route before and we were not dissapointed! The climb consisted of about 15 excellent pitches of rock climbing, mostly in the 5.4 - 5.6 range with a couple of harder cruxes up to 5.8. The crux pitch itself was an excellent steep corner with good rock and cool climbing. After finishing up the last bit of the Kain Route we enjoyed some sunshine on the pointy summit before rappelling down.
Jody & Monique on the first long pitch.
The Gmoser route provides a more difficult and sustained climb than the Kain route and is one I hope to do again in the future!
