Glacier Travel Course at the Columbia Icefields

Having fun at the pass between the Boundary and North Glaciers below Mount Athabasca.

On the weekend a group of four friends from around Alberta & BC joined me out at the Columbia Icefields for a custom Glacier Travel Course. They ended up being a ton of fun and we had a great weekend learning crevasse rescue, self arrest, ice climbing, glacier travel, route finding, and more. Sunday was the highlight when we did a cool tour of the glaciers starting up the Boundary Glacier below Hilda peak and crossed a pass to reach the North glacier on Athabasca. Descending the North glacier we crossed a number of crevasses and then did some rappelling down the steep lower slopes. Everyone in the group seemed quite inspired to do more in the future. I wish them the best with their future mountaineering and I hope to see everyone again in the future!
