Trad Climbing Skills with Chris & Jamie

Jamie doing a great job of leading her first gear climb!

Chris & Jamie came down from Stony Plain for a day of skills training at Lake Louise yesterday. They have both done a fair bit of climbing in the past and wanted to learn some gear climbing skills so they can challenge more difficult mountaineering routes in the future. We started with placing cams & nuts near the ground and then began climbing. They both led a few routes and we also practiced some multipitch climbing skills. At the end of the day they both did a great job of top-roping the classic Turtle Island climb (5.10b). Chris & Jamie have another 2 weeks of holidays in the Rockies and I'm sure they will have some great adventures! Also, I look forward to seeing Chris for an ascent of Mt. Edith Cavell later on this month!
